Climate Action Film Festival in Education (CAFFE)

CAFFE will engage teachers, schools and other participants to foster their involvement and generate new knowledge workflows, in the form of short films, related to climate change. CAFFE will provide teachers and students with the necessary knowledge and skills to effectively engage in climate action and sustainability education, via STEAM training and producing stories to be told in an artistic and accurate way. To create the short films, they will be trained in the use of digital technologies applied to cinematography, while all training and support will be online.

Das Projekt nutzt künstliche Intelligenz, um die Auswahl und die Entdeckung von Filmen und TV-Serien zu verbessern. Ziel ist es, den Nutzer:innen ein zugänglicheres und unterhaltsameres Erlebnis zu bieten und gleichzeitig den Suchaufwand nach neuen Filmen und TV-Serien zu minimieren. Dies wird durch die Implementierung eines interaktiven Chat- oder Audiobots sowie durch Gamification-Ansätze erreicht. Der Bot kann personalisierte Empfehlungen geben, sich wie ein Freund verhalten und sogar berühmte Persönlichkeiten imitieren. Die gesammelten Daten verbessern den Kundenservice und die KI. Das Produkt richtet sich als B2B-Lösung an kleinere Streamingdienste und Verleiher mit großen Katalogen und als B2C-Lösung an Filmliebhaber, die individuelle Lösungen zur Filmauswahl benötigen.

Sucht: Jemanden, der tieferes technisches Wissen bzw. IT-Kenntnisse und die Expertise zur Erstellung von Businessplänen und das Know-how zur Monetarisierung mitbringt.

Generative AI for Storytelling (2nd place winner)

In our joint project, we aim to explore the innovative integration of generative AI into film production, specifically focusing on storytelling. Recognizing the challenges of traditional filmmaking - high costs, extensive time investment, and intense creative demands - we propose leveraging AI to streamline story creation. This project will delve into how AI can enhance narrative development, offer creative insights, and reduce production timelines. It's a unique opportunity for digital business and film students to collaborate, by blending technology and art.


Seeking:

1) Experience with storytelling and script writing. We are looking for students who understand the nuances of story structure, character development, and crafting engaging dialogues.

2) Basic understanding of new AI tools such as ChatGPT. You don't need to know how machine learning works, but you should at least have used ChatGPT a couple times and be familiar with what it's capabilities are.

3) Basic knowledge about workflows and processes in filmmaking, production, or writing. In order to identify potential for process improvement, we need someone with basic industry knowledge of the workflows and processes in filmmaking, specifically story creation.

Visioning Circular Economy

The climate crisis demands societal, industrial and individual transformation. Yet, despite the urgent need for change, a large part of stakeholders seems either paralyzed or reluctant to act. One, of the domains, where this becomes apparent is circular economy. It seems, the necessary paradigm shift towards a more thoughtful and beyond linear product, production and business approach is difficult to grasp and even hard to imagine and believe.

Seeking: People with a will to contribute fighting climate crisis and already a certain level of problem understanding; creative people with a “yes, and “ culture; people good at graphical representation or film to convey our visions to others.

Überkonsum gibt es überall: Beim Essen, Technik oder in der Mode-Industrie. Foodsharing, To Good To Go & co zeigen, dass wir auch gerne Lebensmittel retten. Aber wieso machen wir das noch nicht in der Textil-Industrie? Gebrauchte Kleidung wird bereits häufig auf vinted, ebay & co weiter verkauft. Aber bereits bei der Produktion entsteht super viel "Müll", den wir retten könnten, wenn die Strukturen dafür existieren würden! Zusammen mit einem Netzwerk an Veredler*innen, wollen wir jedem einzelnen Kleidungsstück eine zweite Chance geben, bevor die wertvollen Ressourcen dieser Erde unnötig im Müll landen. Zusammen mit dem EU-Parlament wollen wir die neuen Recycling-Gesetzte für Kreislaufwirtschaft in Tat umsetzten!

Inoculation against health misinformation

Our film endeavor aims to plunge deep into the labyrinth of manipulation, unveiling the subtle art of misinformation during health emergencies. As a film school student, you will have the chance to be an essential part of this exploration, shedding light on how individuals are unwittingly influenced and led down a rabbit hole of deception. We're particularly focused on unraveling the ripple effect of this manipulation on social dynamics and the critical decisions people make regarding their health. By joining our team, you'll be at the forefront of a cinematic journey that doesn't just scratch the surface but delves deep into the intricate mechanics of influence. Virtual Production 4 Carbon Reduction

Virtual production in the film industry holds the potential for carbon footprint reduction by minimizing the need for physical sets, travel, and other resource-intensive processes. WE would like to explore the potential of 3D Gaussian splatting for carbon footprint reduction in the film industry. However, there are challenges and potential problems associated with its implementation. Some issues include: Energy Consumption of Technology: The use of advanced technology, including high-performance computers, graphics processing units (GPUs), and other hardware for virtual production, can have a significant energy footprint. The energy consumption of maintaining servers, rendering farms, and running complex simulations may offset the carbon savings achieved by reducing physical production elements. Complexity of Virtual Sets: Creating intricate virtual environments may require substantial computational power and energy. The complexity of virtual sets and the resources needed for their development can impact the overall sustainability of virtual production. Integration with Physical Elements: Virtual production often involves a combination of virtual and physical elements. Achieving a seamless integration between the two without compromising sustainability can be challenging.
